WE BACK LONDON FASHION WEEK HIGHLIGHTS PART 1

WE BACK...

Wow there has been so many things that has been happening and I have been under so much confidentuality agrements that its been hard to Blog,

But amoung the mids of fashion week I am good to go...

Erin o'connors model sanctuary:

Model,co-founder of All walks beyond the catwalk and founder of the model sanctuary.

How does this woman find time to sleep let alone do all this and many more things I took a trip to the model sanctuary to take a look.

Erin O ‘Connor among working on all walks beyond the catwalk has been supporting young designers from London College of Fashion as well as being a mentor and supporter of models of different shape and ethnicity. The project is run by Erin O’ Connor and it is all about looking after the inner being. This is not only for women but it is also for men where even in the goody bags the men were catered for with male skin products as well as assortment of herbal tea.

With one whole floor dedicated to the mind, there are onsite councillors that are there for support during the most stressful time being LONDON FASHION WEEK. There is a lovely feature light insulation which resembles a paper dolls house which radiates a calming influence and there is also a lounge area where visitors can relax and chill out.

Moving on in the reading room people can sit and chat which makes it a home from home. Some models may even be from another country making this a perfect haven for them to meet other like minded people. There is also an area for eating where organic food is offered throughout the day. There is an area that is dedicated to makeup which allows fashion students to practice their craft with the models which allows them to play around with makeup. There is a photo booth which allows models to take photos of their makeup experiments and print pictures for fun and allows the to take away a piece of memorabilia.

Moving on to another room where a trained osteopath and masseuse provide a calming influence as well as nutriencist .‘As alot of these models are very young and have just moved away from home or maybe travelling and may be in need of the knowledge of where to go to eat or how to cook different foods’ Erin O’ Connor. There is also a gym where a personal trainer can provide fitness knowledge and advice . Each floor is beautifully decorated with illustrations and art work designs from London College of Fashion students . Also from body confident campaign Liberal Democrats spokeswoman for women and equality Jo Swinson made a appearance showing her support.

Overall creating a very balanced environment with creative energy, good food, nurturing the body and lots of love.

Ethicial gets cooler then GaGa:

On/Off presented Ada Zanditon,

Which yesterday was a very special moment for me as seeing Ada's work for a number of years now,

And years ago beeing her very first intern I have always took a intrest in the designers work.

However she even surprised me this season, Origanially known for her Crazy Club kid outfits and designing for people such as Patrick Wolfe, Ada was the Club kid that made people statement cool.

Later on I notced a change in the designers style becoming more commerical where you could see it as a chic ethicial brand.

Though nothing this fashion week you would assosiate with a typicial ethical designer Look and what was best Ada managed to fuse her original days and amazing skill at patten cutting with statement mixed with chic and wearable.

These pieces I took a particular liking to:

FANTASTIC!!!

The mad hatter:

Didn't relise till later on in day with the LFW press bags and my look I was doing a bit of a mad hatter look.

I must admit I am in love with the new press bags this fashion week well done mulberry and cannon on a beautiful

My dark experience with Alexander Groover.

Monday eve showed the collection of Alexander Groover, the collection was entilted 'Sea Smoke' which embraced the sea creautes as did last years Octopus theme.

The designer clearly shows intrest Of the Sea as her insperation, and the darkness of the murky waters.

The collection was shown on the rails and was viewd by a filimg, that resembled an essence of Gareth Pugh.

However unlike a Show directed by Pugh this collection was'nt shown on screen in a grungy wearhouse celebrating the East London eccentric style.

In fact the location was a old chappel church with candels and a film screen on the alter,

Which worked in theme for the dark Hooded robes in Alexandra's collection.

And also acted as a erry and yet beutiful backdrop to accompany the film.

The film shown was a beautiffly styled piece.

Showing the many useages of her clothing and multi functinal ways of wearing them in diffrent style which was by methods of pulling drawstrings gathering and tying creating totally new and unique looks.

And here is the twist for the first time the collection was shown for man or woman.

Unfortantly my camrea played up in the lighting of the place though I have attached a copy of the invite to give u a sense of the feel of the collection.

Overall the collection was Black in colour and all about comfort and a intresting play on jersy through the Drape and the cut not looking like your standard SS collection,

However this is why I feel the collection was strong and worked as the pieces where investment pieces giving the wearer more

  1. I see what you mean about Ada's work. The same as with you, her work has matured and moved on.

It really does sound like LFW was good for you.
